JRU1550 Jumbo Roll Unwinders

The JRU1550 jumbo roll unwinder was specifically developed for use in wide-format printing and the LFP sector to realize high-volume print jobs without time-consuming roll changes. Designed as a mobile system, the JRU1550 can be moved flexibly on casters and precisely positioned and locked behind various printer systems via mechanical stations. Thanks to its self-sufficient control via a dancer roller system, the machine requires no electrical interface to the printer’s PLC. Material feed is purely tension-controlled by the printer itself, with the unwinder maintaining constant web tension at all times. This ensures that print quality remains identical to internal unwinding, while jumbo rolls weighing up to 700 kg and with a diameter of 60 cm can be processed simultaneously.

Loading is carried out via a 3-inch tension shaft, whereby the web edge is defined manually by positioning the roll on the shaft. A particular advantage of the JRU1550 is its compact design: for printing systems with a width of 3.2 m, two units can be operated in parallel to feed two 60-inch rolls (1.52 m) at the same time. Beyond pure unwinding, the system is capable of rewinding small quantities of material (approx. 1-2 m) in a controlled manner after the printing process. The JRU1550 thus offers a robust solution for non-stop operation, which significantly reduces material costs through the purchase of bulk goods as well as reduced freight costs for direct imports. Since the enormous running lengths mean that setup is required less frequently, the system also minimizes the typical material loss during roll changes and maximizes profitable machine uptimes in shift operation.
