The NEPATA slitting system can cut off many roll media precisely. Depending on the material, however, there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure you get really smooth cut edges. This begins with choosing the right blade. Here is an overview of all sizes and grindings. At NEPATA we have various blades on sale. They differ in diameter, thickness, sharpening and the steel used.

Overview of blades for NEPATA slitting system ADWS

297mm x 2,5mm single-sided sharpening

  • Our standard blade for all-round use and maximum roll diameter
  • Maximum diameter of 280mm
  • Ideal for self-adhesive media
  • Relatively low torsional stiffness: Due to the large diameter, great forces are generated and the knife can bend when used on resistant media.
  • The single-sided sharpening displaces the material to the right side. This only works with media in which the individual windings can slide on each other, thus rather poorly suited e.g. with application tape.

240mm x 2.0mm single-sided sharpening

  • The smaller and thinner alternative to the standard blade for less material displacement, and thus less heat development during slitting
  • Better stiffness and less bending of the blade when used on resistant media
  • Ideal for self-adhesive media
  • Can be used for slitting roll diameters up to approx. 225mm.

240mm x 2,0mm double-sided sharpening

  • Due to the double-sided sharpening, the material is displaced evenly to the left and right when the blade is immersed. Therefore, the blade is ideal for cutting linerless adhesive media such as application tape.
  • Can be used for slitting roll diameters up to approx. 225mm.
  • Limited suitability for slitting self-adhesive films with small to medium roll diameter.

297mm x 5,0mm single-sided sharpening

  • Highest stiffness without bending of the blade by very thin slits from approx. 3mm at 50m rolls – depending on the material
  • Blade only suitable for slitting widths up to max. 50mm, i.e. only for the production of foil strips.
  • Lubrication system strongly recommended to keep friction and heat generation low
  • Can be used for slitting roll diameters up to approx. 280mm.

297mm x 5.0mm single-sided sharpening with counter-grinding

  • Highest stiffness without bending of the blade even by full material, suitable for cutting full rolls
  • Lubrication system strongly recommended to keep friction and heat generation low
  • Can be used for slitting roll diameters up to approx. 280mm

Blades made of solid carbide

In the standard version all mentioned blades are made of HSS steel. Basically all models are also available in solid carbide.

  • High final sharpness for smooth cutting edges without fringing
  • Especially recommended for resistant, tough, hard materials.
  • Needs to be sharpened less often due to its long service life, stays sharp about 3 to 5 times as long as the standard blade.
  • Best results in combination with the lubrication system.
