A fully automated film warehouse – this is the exciting project we are currently working on. In Film Logistics, the distances between the roll storage area and the rewinding machine (and back) represent a significant time factor – collection and delivery times that do not directly add value. Furthermore, manual roll handling is physically demanding and prone to errors. To automate the collection and delivery process, NEPATA has developed an automated storage system for roll media. Here’s how it works:

The rollers are stored in an extremely compact manner in a block storage system – vertically and sorted by diameter.

A robotic arm picks up the required rolls one by one from above and transports them to a transfer point.

All rolls belonging to a single order are grouped together on a picking trolley.

Partially used rolls are stored accordingly – with no particular order to the storage locations. High-turnover items are placed in such a way as to minimise travel distances.

The software supplied can be fully integrated into the tried-and-tested NEPATA control software, ConvertPlus2. The size and capacity of the overall system can be chosen freely – from approximately 500 to 3,000 rolls. Does that sound interesting to you? I’d be happy to discuss further details over the phone … I’d like to find out more
