NEPATA’s slitter can slit a wide range of roll media with precision. However, depending on the material, there are a few things to bear in mind to ensure you achieve truly smooth cut edges. It all starts with choosing the right blade. Here is an overview of all sizes and grinds. At NEPATA, we offer a range of different blades. They differ in diameter, thickness, edge profile and the type of steel used.

Overview of blades for the NEPATA ADWS cutting-off system

297 mm x 2.5 mm, ground on one side

  • Our standard blade for all-round use and maximum roll diameters
  • Maximum diameter of 280 mm
  • Ideal for self-adhesive media
  • Relatively low torsional rigidity: the large diameter generates significant forces; the blade may bend when cutting through tough media.
  • The single-sided cut pushes the material to the right-hand side. This only works with media where the individual windings can slide over one another; it is therefore less suitable, for example, for application tape.

240 mm x 2.0 mm, ground on one side

  • The smaller and thinner alternative to the standard blade, for less material displacement and therefore less heat build-up during slitting
  • Greater rigidity and less blade flexing when cutting through tough media
  • Ideal for self-adhesive media
  • Rolls with a diameter of up to approx. 225 mm can be slitted.

240 mm x 2.0 mm, ground on both sides

  • As the blade is ground on both sides, the material is displaced evenly to the left and right as it is slitted. The blade is therefore ideal for slitting linerless adhesive media such as application tape.
  • Roll diameters of up to approx. 225 mm can be slitted.
  • It is suitable, to a limited extent, for slitting self-adhesive films with small to medium roll diameters.

297 mm x 5.0 mm, ground on one side

  • Maximum rigidity without the blade bending when making very thin cuts from approx. 3 mm on 50-metre rolls – depending on the material
  • The blade is only suitable for cutting widths of up to 50 mm, i.e. only for the production of film strips.
  • A lubrication system is strongly recommended to minimise friction and heat build-up
  • Rolls with diameters up to approx. 280 mm can be slitted.

297 mm x 5.0 mm, single-sided ground with a counter-grind

  • Maximum rigidity without the blade bending, even when cutting through solid material; suitable for cutting full rolls
  • A lubrication system is strongly recommended to minimise friction and heat build-up
  • Rolls with a diameter of up to approx. 280 mm can be slitted

Solid carbide blades

In the standard version, all the blades mentioned are made of HSS steel. All models are also available in solid carbide.

  • Exceptional cutting sharpness for smooth cut edges without fraying
  • Particularly recommended for tough, resilient and hard materials.
  • Needs sharpening less frequently due to its long service life; remains sharp for around 3 to 5 times as long as a standard blade.
  • Best results when used in combination with the lubrication system.
